Episode 10: Opinion: Should You Hire Beta Readers?
In this segment, I discuss having others critique your work, be it in the form of friends, co-workers, or beta readers. I know that many self-published authors rely on beta readers to help improve their writing in some way or the other, and it has been helpful. Experienced, reliable beta readers can save you a lot of money, if you choose to skip using an editor, however, there are some things to consider about having your incomplete manuscript critiqued by people who may lack vital experience in editing and writing. In this episode, I discuss why and when foregoing the help of beta readers may be beneficial. I know there are some that may disagree, but I believe as writers, taking chances and believing in our own stories will serve us better than being pointed in a particular direction by someone who doesn't know where you want to take your story. I want to make it clear that I'm not anti-beta reader! I'm simply proposing something for writers - especially new writers to consider! Thanks so much for listening!
